Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held a meeting with Paolo Zampolli, Special Representative of the President of the United States of America for Global Partnerships, who is on a working visit to Uzbekistan.
At the beginning of the meeting, the American delegation was provided with an overview of the activities of the Ministry of Digital Technologies, IT Park Uzbekistan, and the Uzbekcosmos Agency. The ongoing reforms, long-term plans, and key achievements of Uzbekistan in the digital domain were presented in detail. As part of the visit, the delegation was introduced to the operations of Ustudy IT Academy, which specializes in training IT specialists, as well as to the activities of UZSOC and the single integrator UZINFOCOM.
The discussions focused on further deepening bilateral cooperation. In particular, the parties considered opportunities for collaboration in the development of data centers, implementation of joint projects in the space industry, introduction of artificial intelligence technologies, expansion of digital services exports, and support for the growth of the startup ecosystem.
Minister Shermatov underscored the measures being taken in Uzbekistan to foster the digital economy, strengthen IT services exports, and create new opportunities for youth. Particular attention was also given to initiatives aimed at elevating Uzbekistan’s international standing and promoting projects in education and English language proficiency.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties acknowledged the considerable potential for expanding cooperation in digitalization and expressed their commitment to elevating the partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States to a new level. Mr. Zampolli, in turn, highly commended the large-scale reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan and reaffirmed his readiness to pursue joint initiatives in the future.
