Tashkent Will Host Open Data Challenge Hackathon
From January 24 to 26, the Open Data Challenge hackathon will take place at the New Uzbekistan University. The event is organized by IT Park in collaboration with the OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan, with the support of the Statistics Agency and the Anti-Corruption Agency.
The Open Data Challenge is an annual hackathon focused on developing technological solutions utilizing open data. The primary objectives of the competition are to unlock the social and economic potential of government and municipal open data, foster the formation of a professional community in this domain, and enhance relevant competencies among government and municipal authorities as well as hackathon participants.
Technological solutions must be submitted within one of the following categories:
• Public sector
• Business sector
• Anti-corruption
• Social sector
The hackathon is open to all interested individuals. Participants are required to attend all events, develop digital solutions (such as applications, services, or devices) utilizing open data, and submit their code on the GitHub platform. Applications may be submitted individually or as part of a team (with a maximum of three members).
The event will feature preliminary competitions across four key areas, specialized masterclasses delivered by industry experts on the use of open data, and preparatory activities including four online webinars and one offline workshop:
• December 24 — Webinar on the public sector
• December 26 — Webinar on the business sector
• January 7 — Webinar on anti-corruption
• January 9 — Webinar on the social sector
• January 17 — Workshop for hackathon participants on working with open data
