IT Park Uzbekistan Strengthens Ties with Malaysia’s MOSTI and MRANTI to Foster Innovation

In a strategic move to expand international cooperation, IT Park Uzbekistan held an insightful meeting with representatives from Malaysia’s Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) and the Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology & Innovation (MRANTI). The Malaysian delegation included Madam Ruziah binti Haji Shafei, Deputy Secretary General of MOSTI, and Mr. Muhammad Fikri Ashraf Bin Abdullah Hasin, Private Sector & Portfolio Management Partnership representative of MRANTI. The IT Park Uzbekistan team was headed by Oybek Anvarov, director of the IT Park Syrdarya branch.

MOSTI, founded in 1973 and restructured in 2020, has long been a cornerstone of Malaysia’s science and technology development, driving forward-thinking projects to promote innovation. MRANTI, established in 2022, plays a critical role in Malaysia’s innovation ecosystem with a 30 million RM budget allocated for its 4IR Innovation Hub as part of the 2022 National Budget, aiming to foster sustainable and innovative advancements in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The discussions centered on renewing and strengthening Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between IT Park and Malaysian institutions, with a focus on creating pathways for Uzbek startups to benefit from MRANTI’s VentureX and KLIB initiatives, which support international growth within a nurturing innovation ecosystem. The meeting underscored the potential for enhanced bilateral relations, aiming to expand support for startups and technology-driven ventures in Uzbekistan.

The Uzbek delegation presented Uzbekistan’s thriving startup ecosystem, highlighting a robust pool of startups, the Digital Startup Program, and opportunities for venture capital funds. With strong government-level support for startup development, Uzbekistan is fostering an environment that attracts significant interest in its growing market, positioning itself as an emerging tech hub in the region.

These discussions reflect IT Park Uzbekistan’s commitment to establishing itself as a regional IT hub, fostering entrepreneurship and growth through meaningful international partnerships.
