Web Summit Spotlight: Uzbekistan aims to showcase the country’s growing role as an emerging global innovator.

Uzbekistan is set to showcase its growth as an emerging global innovation hub by hosting its first Web Summit Spotlight on September 27 in Tashkent. The meetup will join leading international experts, venture capital investors, startup founders, and IT industry leaders.

Web Summit runs the world’s largest technology events, connecting people and ideas that change the world. What started as a 150-person tech conference in Dublin in 2009 has grown into global gatherings, including its flagship Web Summit in Lisbon every November, and events like Web Summit Rio, Web Summit Qatar, and Web Summit Vancouver. It is a meeting point where startups are launched, multimillion-dollar agreements are concluded, and the technology agenda for years ahead is defined.

The arrival of Web Summit Spotlight in Uzbekistan reflects the country’s steady progress toward becoming a global center for innovation and technology. The Web Summit Spotlight program will focus on Uzbekistan’s potential as an innovation hub, opportunities for international corporations in emerging markets, prospects for venture investment, and global trends in IT.

GBSF 2025 outcomes: Uzbekistan strengthens its status as an IT hub

Tashkent hosted the Global Business Services Forum 2025 (GBSF 2025), one of the most prominent events of the year in the field of IT outsourcing and digital services. Organized by IT Park Uzbekistan with the support of the Ministry of Digital Technologies, the event convened approximately 450 participants representing 260 companies, including 237 international companies from 40 countries. Among the attendees were representatives of multinational corporations, startups, government agencies, and venture capital funds.

IT Park and ADB discuss the development of regional IT infrastructure and the establishment of a national startup ecosystem

Abdulakhad Kuchkarov, CEO of IT Park Uzbekistan, held a meeting with a delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The delegation was led by Mirzo Iskandar Gulyamov, Acting Country Director of the ADB Resident Mission in Uzbekistan. As a result of the negotiations, the parties agreed to continue elaborating a joint project aimed at the development of regional IT infrastructure and the establishment of a national startup ecosystem.

Uzbekistan Digital Inclusion results: over 450 participants from 9 regions completed soft skills training

In July, the first regional training sessions under the Uzbekistan Digital Inclusion project — organized by the Ministry of Digital Technologies, IT Park Uzbekistan, and the World Bank — were successfully conducted. The program engaged more than 450 participants from 9 regions of the country. The primary target group comprised young people between the ages of 18 and 30, including women and persons with disabilities.

Results of the first corporate AI hackathon at IT Park Uzbekistan

IT Park Uzbekistan has successfully concluded its first corporate AI hackathon Build with AI, which brought together employees from the head office and regional branches. Over the course of four days, 245 participants across 55 teams worked on developing practical AI-driven solutions to enhance the company’s internal processes.

On August 18, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree “On awarding a group of representatives of the sector in connection with Entrepreneurs’ Day”. In accordance with the decree, a number of entrepreneurs, scholars, and business leaders have been honored with state awards in recognition of their significant contributions to the country’s economic and social development. Among the awardees are members of IT Park — founders and executives of companies who are creating innovative solutions, introducing advanced technologies, and contributing to the growth of the Uzbekistan’s digital ecosystem and export potential.

Outcomes of the visit to Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman: IT Park Uzbekistan strengthens partnerships with the region’s technology leaders

A delegation from IT Park Uzbekistan, led by CEO Abdulakhad Kuchkarov, conducted a visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman. The visit included meetings with government institutions and leading technology companies interested in localizing their services in Uzbekistan, launching joint projects, and supporting startups. Particular emphasis was places on matters of investment cooperation and the expansion of IT service exports to the Middle Eastern market.

First corporate AI hackathon commences at IT Park Uzbekistan

On 13 August, IT Park Uzbekistan launched its inaugural corporate AI hackathon, bringing together 270 employees from the head office, regional branches, and affiliated structures. The objective of the event is to develop and implement innovative AI-driven solutions aimed at optimizing internal business processes.
