IT Park and NCSoft Corporation Discuss Potential Collaboration for Game Development Expansion in Uzbekistan

A delegation from IT Park, led by Jakhongir Radjabov, Director of Business Development, conducted a meeting with representatives of NCSoft Corporation, including Vice President Chang Hyun Yong. The discussions centered on potential collaboration in the Game Development (GameDev) sector between Uzbekistan and South Korea, including knowledge exchange and the company’s potential market expansion through Uzbekistan.

Founded in 1997 and headquartered in Pangyo, Seongnam, South Korea, NCSoft Corporation is a prominent developer and publisher of video games, renowned for popular multiplayer online games such as Lineage and Guild Wars. The company currently employs 4,838 people. Since the establishment of its subsidiary in the United States in 2000, NCSoft has expanded its global network to cover North America, Europe, Japan, and Taiwan.

During the talks, both parties explored the prospects of establishing an NCSoft office in Uzbekistan, as well as opportunities for outsourcing NCSoft’s projects to local IT companies. They also discussed the potential for joint game development hackathons in Uzbekistan, aiming to stimulate the country’s GameDev sector and nurture talent in this field.

NCSoft expressed strong interest in Uzbekistan as a promising location for opening an office. The company noted Uzbekistan’s favorable zero-tax rate on royalties and the comprehensive support programs provided by IT Park as significant advantages. Representatives from NCSoft emphasized their intent to conduct a thorough assessment of the opportunities in Uzbekistan, and to explore the country's ITes-landscape.

Looking forward, the dynamic growth of the GameDev industry in Uzbekistan contributes to attracting foreign investment, generating employment, and bolstering the economy. The potential establishment of a company like NCSoft in Uzbekistan would provide access to advanced technologies and international expertise, fostering a competitive gaming sector and creating new avenues for young professionals and startups.

Tax incentives for startups and foreign investors in Uzbekistan’s IT sector

When I write about Uzbekistan’s tech ecosystem, I keep returning to one theme: opportunity. Unlike in many emerging markets, opportunity here is not just a buzzword, it is being codified into law, built into fiscal frameworks, and delivered through the state-backed IT Park. For startups and foreign investors, the most powerful lever remains the country’s generous package of tax incentives, which have turned IT Park residency into a competitive advantage.
