IT Park Uzbekistan, Cintana Education, and Arizona State University Partnership: A Step Towards Enhancing the Country’s Human Capital

The representatives of IT Park Uzbekistan, headed by CEO Farkhod Ibragimov, held a meeting with the U.S. delegation represented by Douglas Becker, Founder of Cintana Education, and Rick Shangraw, Professor at the School of Public Affairs at Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions and President of Cintana Education. The meeting was also attended by Timur Rakhmanov, Co-Founder and Board Member of the American University of Technology (AUT) in Tashkent.

The American University of Technology is the second American higher education institution established in Uzbekistan through a partnership with Arizona State University and Cintana Education, following the agreements reached between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and Douglas Becker in New York in September of last year. The university has already commenced its activities and is currently enrolling students for the 2024/2025 academic year.

During the meeting, the guests were provided with comprehensive insights into the technological landscape of Uzbekistan and the favorable conditions created for the development of the IT-enabled services (ITeS) sector in the country.

A major highlight of the discussion was the collaboration with representatives of the private sector in the United States. AUT aims to attract leading American companies for joint projects in Uzbekistan, thereby contributing to the growth of the local startup ecosystem and the outsourcing sector of IT services.

Additionally, the participants explored various avenues for strengthening the partnership between AUT and IT Park Uzbekistan. Special emphasis was placed on educational initiatives, including joint acceleration programs and the establishment of cutting-edge technology laboratories.

It is also planned to implement research and development projects with IT Park University (ITPU). The parties are committed to developing advanced solutions for the information technology market by integrating scientific expertise and practical experience. Douglas Becker expressed his interest in working closely with ITPU to design an educational model focused on preparing specialists who are fully equipped to integrate into industry projects without the need for additional training by employers.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to hold a follow-up round of negotiations, during which concrete steps for future collaboration will be outlined.

The prospective partnership with Cintana Education and Arizona State University is expected to serve as a pivotal milestone in enhancing Uzbekistan’s human capital on a global scale. This cooperation will enable Uzbek professionals to acquire knowledge and expertise from leading American experts, significantly increasing their competitiveness and demand at the international level.
