On the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a group of state officials and professionals from the industrial and socio-economic sectors were awarded high state distinctions. Notably, among the honorees were representatives of the digital sector, underscoring the significance of projects in digitalization and the advancement of high technologies.
The recipients include three representatives of the digital sector: Olimjon Mukhamadjanovich Umarov, First Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan (appointed on June 21, 2024); Shukhrat Munavvarovich Kadirov, Director of the Agency for Space Research and Technology under the Ministry of Digital Technologies (appointed on January 31, 2023); and Nazirjon Khasanov, Chairman of the Board of JSC “Uzbektelecom” (serving as head of the company since 2018).
Olimjon Umarov and Shukhrat Kadirov were awarded the state medal “For Dedicated Service”, while Nazirjon Khasanov received the Order of “Friendship”. Their contributions has been closely tied to the implementation of national initiatives in digital transformation, the development of the startup ecosystem, the expansion of ICT infrastructure, and the integration of space technologies into the country’s economy.
The presentation of these awards on the eve of the 34th anniversary of independence not only reflects the vital role of the digital sector in Uzbekistan’s development but also serves as an important incentive for further strengthening human capital, advancing sectoral initiatives, and scaling technological initiatives.
