Strengthening cooperation in the field of digital technologies and IT outsourcing between Uzbekistan and Germany

Within the framework of advancing cooperation in digital technologies between Uzbekistan and Germany, a meeting was convened between the Uzbekistan delegation and representatives of the Federal Ministry of Digital Technologies and Transport (BMDV) of Germany. The meeting took place in a constructive and businesslike ambiance, during which the parties deliberated upon pivotal avenues for prospective collaboration.

Representing Uzbekistan at the negotiations were Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Germany Dilshod Akhatov and CEO of IT Park Uzbekistan Farhod Ibragimov, while the German side was represented by State Secretary Stefan Schnorr, Head of the Bilateral Digital Policy Department Mark Ledermann, and Advisor to the Department of International Relations and Foreign Economic Activities Diana Huster.

The meeting explored the prospects of enhancing Uzbek-German cooperation in the realms of digitalization and the advancement of transportation infrastructure.

Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Germany Dilshod Akhatov provided information on the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan's IT and digitalization sectors, as well as in the transportation, including measures undertaken within the framework of implementation of the Strategy “Uzbekistan 2030”.

Farhod Ibragimov introduced IT Park as a rapidly evolving platform that offers international companies tax incentives, customs preferences, support programs, and other comprehensive services, facilitating seamless establishment and global business operations in Uzbekistan.

The meeting also addressed the dearth of specialists in Germany and the abundance of young talents in Uzbekistan, possessing both potential and proficiency in the German language, opening up prospects for collaboration in the domain of IT outsourcing. It was noted that currently, around 12 Uzbek companies export IT services to Germany, while approximately 10 companies with German capital operate within Uzbekistan.

State Secretary Stefan Schnorr underscored the significance of strategic cooperation between Germany and Uzbekistan for mutual economic growth, extending support in forging connections with German business associations and startup associations to expedite this endeavor.

German representatives emphasized the pivotal role of IT outsourcing as a launching pad for entering the German market. The branch of IT Park in Germany was designated as the facilitator in this mission, which will be a significant step towards augmenting the presence of Uzbek companies on the international stage.

Concluding the meeting, the Ministry delegation received an invitation to Uzbekistan to assess the country's potential and opportunities firsthand. German counterparts affirmed their readiness for the visit, signifying mutual interest in fortifying bilateral relations.

This partnership heralds novel vistas for the development and expansion of the Uzbek IT industry and provides opportunities for economic growth and job creation, contributing to the strengthening of international ties in the realms of digital technologies and outsourcing.
