Uzbekistan’s Investment Potential Presented at a Forum in Japan

On October 16, 2024, the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Japan hosted the forum “Investment Potential of Uzbekistan”, which featured the participation of Nodirbek Berdiqobilov, Chief Manager for Services Export at IT Park Uzbekistan. The forum focused on discussing prospects for attracting foreign investment and fostering the country’s economic development. The event gathered high-profile participants, including representatives from the IT sector, financial institutions, and investment companies from around the globe.

Among the invited guests were representatives of international organizations such as the Busan Finance Center from South Korea, Guernsey Finance, Frankfurt Main Finance e.V., the Economic Development Board Mauritius, as well as major Japanese financial groups, including Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group and Mizuho Bank. This underscores the strong interest in Uzbekistan’s business environment and the favorable opportunities created for IT companies and investors.

The forum commenced with a welcoming speech by His Excellency Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Japan, Mukhsinkhuja Abdurakhmonov, who emphasized the unique conditions available for IT companies in the country and the dynamic growth of Uzbekistan’s economy.

Nodirbek Berdiqobilov shared insights into the current state of the IT sector, highlighting its rapid growth and the high level of expertise among local professionals. He stressed that Uzbekistan holds immense potential for the development of digital technologies, supported by the country’s human capital, which positions it as an attractive destination for international investors and companies interested in outsourcing services.

Participants were informed about the support programs being implemented by IT Park Uzbekistan to enhance the country’s export potential, as well as plans for further development of the IT sector. For instance, the International Digital Technologies Center, Enterprise Uzbekistan, was presented, which will offer a special regulatory regime for companies within the economic zone, thereby creating favorable conditions for conducting business in the technology sector.

This event showcased the unique landscape and the growing potential of Uzbekistan as a new global IT hub, attracting companies to expand their businesses into international markets by establishing offices in the country.

International cooperation and the attraction of foreign investments are expected to significantly contribute to the growth of Uzbekistan’s digital sector. The entry of foreign companies into the local market will strengthen the nation’s competitiveness, create new job opportunities, and enhance Uzbekistan’s reputation as a global outsourcing center.
