A briefing and the Uzbek–Chinese scientific symposium were held at the International Institute for Central Asia (IICA) as part of the visit to Uzbekistan by a delegation of the People’s Republic of China led by Gao Xiang, President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). IT Park Uzbekistan was represented by Director of Strategic Development Makhliyo Muksinova.
The events brought together representatives of Uzbekistan’s government bodies, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Tashkent, as well as experts from analytical and academic centers of both countries.
The main event of the program was the Uzbek–Chinese scientific symposium titled “Global Transformation and Public Governance,” jointly organized by IICA and CASS. During the discussions, participants addressed key areas of cooperation between Uzbekistan and China in public administration, prospects for aligning national development strategies, the role of artificial intelligence in digital connectivity, and the development of regional cooperation within the Central Asia–China framework.
The symposium featured four thematic sessions. The first session focused on global transformation and the exchange of experience in public governance. The second session examined issues related to new-quality productive forces and the highly efficient development of Uzbek–Chinese cooperation. The third session was dedicated to the role of artificial intelligence as a factor of digital connectivity between the two countries, while the final discussion addressed prospects for regional cooperation and the alignment of development strategies.
Speaking at the third session, Director of Strategic Development Makhliyo Muksinova emphasized the strategic importance of artificial intelligence development in Uzbekistan and bilateral cooperation with China:
“Artificial intelligence is one of the key drivers of digital connectivity and enhanced efficiency in public governance. For Uzbekistan, AI development is part of a long-term national modernization strategy implemented at the government level. Within the framework of the Digital Silk Road initiative, a strong technological partnership has been formed between Uzbekistan and China, creating a foundation for transitioning to a new stage of cooperation focused on artificial intelligence and joint research projects. I am confident that deeper collaboration in this area will bring new substance to Uzbek–Chinese partnership and contribute to strengthening digital connectivity in the region,”
noted Makhliyo Muksinova.
Following the symposium, participants confirmed their interest in deepening scientific, expert, and technological cooperation, as well as in implementing joint projects aimed at sustainable development and digital transformation of the region. Particular attention was given to practical cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence, which opens additional opportunities for IT Park Uzbekistan, including attracting international partners, developing joint R&D initiatives, and expanding the export potential of resident companies to the markets of China and the wider region.
