IT Park Uzbekistan and Women in Tech Sign Cooperation Agreement
IT Park Uzbekistan has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the international community Women in Tech. This agreement was signed by Makhliyo Muksinova, Director of Services Export Development at IT Park Uzbekistan, and Ayumi Moore Aoki, Founder and CEO of the movement at Women in Tech. The primary objective of this agreement is to foster the growth of global women-led businesses in the IT services sector, enhance awareness of Uzbekistan and opportunities for IT companies in our country, as well as to support the development of local women professionals for their employment in export-oriented companies.
Women in Tech Global is one of the world’s leading volunteer movements aimed at bridging the gender divide within the technology industry. Headquartered in Paris, the organization spans over 60 countries across six continents and boasts a community of more than 300,000 participants. Since its inception in 2018 by Ayumi Moore Aoki, Women in Tech has made significant strides toward impacting the lives of 5 million women and girls in the fields of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) by 2030, contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals.
Under this agreement, assistance will be provided to girls and women in developing their professional skills and securing employment with both local and international export-oriented companies. Moreover, the initiative is designed to support local women-led startups, facilitating their entry into global markets through a network of professional communities, advancing initiatives aimed at enhancing women’s IT knowledge and skills, and raising awareness among women-owned global businesses about opportunities for growth and expansion into CIS markets via Uzbekistan.
Participants will benefit from access to the WIT-hub — a dedicated app that will serve as a platform for exchange of expertise, mentoring and networking. This app will also offer access to up-to-date international job vacancies, thereby creating new avenues for career advancement and contributing to the expansion of the country’s digital services export sector.
Since its founding in 2019, IT Park Uzbekistan has emerged as a pivotal hub for the support of startups, the promotion of IT services exports, and job creation within the country. To date, IT Park, in collaboration with the USAID Entrepreneurship and Business Environment Support Project, has launched export accelerators for startups led by women entrepreneurs, empowering them to access new markets.
Furthermore, IT Park Uzbekistan, in partnership with the World Bank, is implementing the Uzbekistan Digital Inclusion program, aimed at broadening access to digital opportunities for all citizens, including women. This initiative plays a critical role in addressing gender disparities within high-tech sectors.
Uzbekistan’s workforce now exceeds 21 million individuals, with women constituting nearly half of that number. The government is committed to advancing women’s professional development, particularly in the high-tech industries, through support programs, benefits, and grants. One of the country’s ambitious goals is to create 300,000 new jobs by 2030, with a substantial portion of these opportunities allocated to women.
Programs supporting women in IT will not only unlock their potential but also contribute to the development of Uzbekistan’s technology sector as a whole. This cooperation is set to lay the foundation for sustainable changes, creating career opportunities for women and fostering the growth of an inclusive digital ecosystem in the country.
The signing of this memorandum between IT Park Uzbekistan and Women in Tech represents a critical milestone in supporting women’s initiatives both locally and globally. It is noteworthy that the programs aimed at supporting women in the IT sector will not only promote their personal and professional growth but also contribute to the overall expansion of the nation’s technological landscape, while enhancing the standard of living for the population.
