The “American Makerspace” Innovation Center has officially commenced operations in the city of Karshi.
The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Uzbekistan Jonathan Henick, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Kongratbay Sharipov, President of Air Produsts for Europe and Africa Ivo Bols and Vice President of Air Products for Central Europe and Central Asia Vaclav Harant.
During the event, participants were briefed on the facilities established at the center, its modern technological equipment, and the practical training process provided to young people in STEAM disciplines (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics).
The center is equipped with 3D printers, laser cutting systems, software and electronics laboratories, coding and robotics facilities, woodworking equipment, and other advanced technologies. These resources are aimed at developing digital and technical competencies among young people, enhancing their innovative potential, and expanding opportunities within the knowledge-based economy.
Guests highly commended the opportunities created by the center for youth development and discussed prospects for expanding similar initiatives to other regions of the country.
The project was implemented as a result of close cooperation between Air Products and the Embassy of the United States in Uzbekistan.
The American Makerspace in Karshi is part of the global American Spaces network, which operates in more than 140 countries and promotes innovation, entrepreneurship, and international cooperation.
