Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov held a meeting with Won Do Yeon, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in the field of digital technologies. It was noted that a productive partnership has been established between Uzbekistan and South Korea in the area of digitalization, and its further development is of strategic importance.
The Ambassador commended the recently Public Service Forum held in Samarkand, highlighting Uzbekistan’s steady progress in international e-government rankings.
Particular attention during the meeting was given to the Korea-Uzbek Digital Center project. The Ambassador expressed high appreciation for the results achieved to date and emphasized the need for its continued expansion. In turn, the Minister underscored that the Center's activities contribute significantly to the advancement of e-government in Uzbekistan and to the country’s growing standing in international indices.
Furthermore, Minister Shermatov stated that Uzbekistan has set an ambitious goal to become one of the world’s top 30 countries in digitalization by 2030. He underscored the importance of continued close cooperation with South Korea to realize this objective.
The discussion also covered the attraction of leading South Korean IT companies to Uzbekistan, and the importance of support from the Embassy in this regard was emphasized.
In addition, the parties exchanged views on further developing the activities of INHA University in Tashkent and improving the quality of education it offers.
